Three-Day Push for Bill to Give Child Sex Abuse Victims More Time to
Get Justice, Expose Hidden Pedophiles; Press Events and Lobby Day to
Feature Victims and Advocates, Including Former Syracuse Ball-boys

Assemblywoman Margaret Markey will hold three events next week in Albany to focus the attention of the Legislature and Governor on her Child Victims Act of NY legislation (A5488). The bill will give victims of abuse more time to get justice and it will expose pedophiles who have previously been hidden. The programs are:

Tuesday, February 28, 2012, 2:00 p.m.

Wednesday, February 29, 2012, 1:00 p.m.

Thursday, March 1, 2012, 1:00 p.m.
All in LOB Press Room, NYS State Legislative Office Building
Empire State Plaza, Albany, NY

At the press conference on Tuesday, February 28, 2:00 p.m., Markey will introduce victims in sports-related cases, including two men who charge they were abused as ball boys by by a Syracuse University assistant basketball coach and several men who reported they were abused by a coach when they were students at a prestigious private school in New York City.

The following day, Wednesday, February 29, will be CVA Lobby Day as the supporters of the bill from across New York State will be in Albany to call on Assemblymembers and Senators and ask them to support the bill. At a press conference at 1:00 pm, the Assemblywoman will stand with victims of abuse at the hands of religious organizations who will talk about their ordeals. Speakers will include victims who successfully took their case against a pedophile to neighboring Massachusetts courts when they couldn’t get justice in New York and a young man who suffered abuse at the hands of a yeshiva rabbi in Brooklyn. On Thursday, March 1, 1:00 p.m., the focus will be on broader legal and social issues relating to statutes of limitations and speakers will include a past president of the New York State Bar Association.

“Laws in New York are so lax that many perpetrators evade exposure by waiting out the short statute of limitations. I want to change that because pedophiles who are not exposed
will continue to abuse yet more children in the future,” the Assemblywoman said.

Markey’s Child Victims Act has been adopted by the Assembly three times, but failed to succeed in the State Senate. The bill will extend the current statute of limitations by five years, to age 28 and will also completely suspend the civil statute of limitations for one year. This will help expose older crimes and make it possible to identify previously hidden abusers through the discovery process in court, exposing them, ensuring that they can never abuse a child again.

Neshama Carlebach

NYC, New York

Neshama Carlebach began training as a singer and actress at the age of 5 and began singing with her father, Shlomo Carlebach, at 15. She began her professional career soon after her father's death in 1994.
Her full name is said to be "Esther Neshama Tehora Shlucha" (a pure soul that descended to this world on the Sabbath Eve).
Carlebach performs in a number of venues, including Jewish Community Centers, synagogues, Hillels, clubs, and summer camps worldwide. She also performs alongside The Green Pastures Baptist Church Choir singing Reb Shlomo's Hebrew and English collaborations.

When Neshama sings, you want to close your eyes and take it all in. Your body energizes with spirituality and goodness. Her volunteer work in New Orleans and compositions with the Baptist Choir are typical examples of how she leads by example in wanting to be better in this world and bridge gaps with others. Her messages are filled with love and hope and her voice is angelic. If you haven't heard it, you're missing out.

SHAME ON THOSE WHO USE NAZI SYMBOLS AND PROPAGANDA TO DEMEAN FELLOW JEWS WE MUST CONDEMM AND ASK AGUDATH ISREAL OF AMERICA AND THE EIDA CHAREDIT TO DENOUNCE THESE HEINOUS ACTS

Deranged Sect of Jews in Israel Compare Other Jews to Nazis

After images of kids wearing yellow patches and striped pajamas during haredi protest in Jerusalem [last night] shocked many across the country, some participants wished to explain the move.

Moshe, a member of the Eda Haredit sect and resident of Jerusalem's ultra-Orthodox Mea Shaarim neighborhood told Ynet he does not regret participating in the "Holocaust display."

The Eda Haredit member attempted to explain the rationale behind the display of Holocaust symbols, saying it was important that secular people understand the campaign that is being conducted against their community.

"It's important to remember that the Holocaust didn’t start with the gas chambers, but was preceded with an unruly incitement campaign against the Jews. Even after Kristallnacht there were those who preferred to turn a blind eye.

"What is happening today resembles those years and it can definitely reach a secular intifada," he noted.

'Racist legislation against haredim'

Moshe compared the Israeli society's treatment of the haredim to "persecution similar to the Nuerenberg Laws." According to him, the very fact that a haredi man who verbally assaulted a female soldier is being accused of sexual harassment – even though many legal experts claimed there were no grounds for arrest – resembles racist legislation.

"It's exactly like those race laws that only applied to certain people," he said, claiming that if the same thing would have happened to an Arab, "The whole media would have been up in arms. But now no one says a thing."

Referring to the harsh criticism voiced over the use of Holocaust symbols, Moshe said: "No one can teach me what it is to respect the memory of the deceased. My family members were also murdered in the Holocaust.

"In Zionist Israel there are hundreds of thousands of Jews that live like complete gentiles, just like in Germany. If the Gestapo leadership would have witnessed how Jews get intoxicated on the very day that European Jews were too scared to leave their houses from fear of pogroms, they would have celebrates. This is Hitler's biggest victory. And they are the ones preaching about disrespecting the Holocaust?"

Moshe noted that the replicated image of the little boy from Warsaw Ghetto – which stirred media frenzy – was not planned, but was rather a "spontaneous initiative." However, he refused to condemn it, saying: "When the seculars explain to us why they act like Germans – we'll talk."

AND HERE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA RABBI SHAFRIN USED THE SAME NAZI PROPAGANDA TO ATTACK FELLOW JEWS
...
IN A RECENT EDITORIAL POSTED IN AMI MAGAZINE RABBI AVI SHAFRIN POSTED A PHOTO OF A NAZI CARTOON USED BY THE HITLER PROPAGANDA MACHINE TO MAKE A MOCKERY OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE . SHAFRIN USED THIS AS A TOOL TO MAKE A MOCKERY OF THE ADVOCATES AND BLOGGERS WHO ARE WORKING DILIGENTLY TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN FROM SEXUAL ABUSE.IN A PREVIOUS ISSUE OF AMI MAGAZINE SHAFRIN USED A VICTIM OF ABUSE PINNY TAUB AS A PAWN TO USE NAZI MATERIAL AS WELL
                                                               SHAME ON YOU
RABBI ABRAHAM SHAFRIN who serves as the Director of Public Affairs for Agudath Israel of America and  is Editor-at-Large of Ami (Magazine). Agudath Israel was established to meet the needs and viewpoint of many Haredi Jews, while Ami, launched on November 24, 2010, promises to serve a broader Orthodox and non-Orthodox readership. TEARS OF JOY AT CHANUKAH CELEBRATION FOR SURVIVORS AND ADVOCATES OF DOMESTIC AND SEX ABUSE

RABBI YOEF BLAU MINGLING WITH GUESTS

The candles flicker at the window casting a warm glow of light that reaches out into the darkness of the night.

Inside, the room is filled with people who have come together to share the warmth and light of Chanukah. This is no ordinary Chanukah party- many of the people who are in attendance are survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence within the Orthodox Jewish community.

This is the first time a gathering of this sort has been allowed to happen. The Voice Of Justice an organization whose goal is to reach out and help victims of sexual abuse in the community sponsored this event. Sexual abuse is a taboo subject within the Jewish community and many are afraid to speak out and share their experiences.  It is unfortunate that victims of abuse go unrecognized and sometimes are even ostracized within their own  community.

Chanukah parties are held all over the United States sponsored by many different organizations,

There has been no such offer of support  from any major organizations like AGUDAH AND OHEL  towards  victims of sexual abuse. The pain and emotional suffering a victim of  rape or molestation experiences, often continues throughout their lives. Their suffering is exacerbated by the secrecy and deafening silence surrounding abuse in the religious community.

The gathering of survivors this Chanukah of 2011 has broken this silence. The party took  place in Brooklyn on the 7th night of Chanukah. The atmosphere was one of warmth and closeness. With everyone present understanding the pain of his fellow Jew.  RABBI YOSEF BLAU Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva University was in attendance and in his calm and reassuring manner delivered powerful  words of inspiration. MARK MEYER APPEL spoke about the struggles survivors face and then led the service of the lighting of the Menorah. RABBI KAGANOFF from Passaic also attended the party as did other advocates for victims of abuse.

DR ASHER LIPNER SINGING
A SPECIAL THANKS TO RIVKY , DR ASHER  LIPNER \                   AND HOST     ABIGAEL    FOR MAKING THIS EVENT SO SPECIAL
The Voice Of Justice will continue promoting awareness and supporting victims and survivors alike. This is only the beginning as we  plan to sponsor many more events in the future. We all hope that our community leaders will begin to understand the enormity of the liability that they as Rabbis of the largest Jewish community in the world own. They need to step up to the plate, own up to their mistakes and allow the voices of the abused to be heard.
